What this is

Inkstride tracks your reading. This page explains what we store, why, who helps us run the service, and how to take your data with you or have it erased. It is written to meet GDPR and Indonesia's UU PDP.

What we collect

Account: your email address, display name, username, time zone and language. If you sign in with Google or Apple we receive an identifier and your verified email from them, and nothing else.

What you enter: books, shelves, reading sessions (times, pages, mood, notes), goals, ratings and reviews, and cover photos you upload (location data in photos is removed).

Derived from that: XP, levels, streaks and badges.

Technical: error reports (no reading content) and, only if you allow it, anonymous usage statistics.

Why we use it

To run the app and sync it across your devices (contract). To show you your own stats and progress (contract). To keep the service safe and fix errors (legitimate interest). To measure how the app is used (only with your consent, which you can withdraw in Profile at any time).

Who processes your data

Hosting and database: our hosting provider. Encrypted backups: Backblaze B2, encrypted before upload. Email for sign-in links: an email delivery provider (Helipod). Error tracking: Sentry. Usage statistics, only with consent: PostHog (EU).

Book search: when you search for a book, the words you type are sent from our server to Open Library and Google Books. They do not receive your identity.

We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.

How long we keep it

Until you delete your account. After you ask, there is a 7-day grace period (sign in again to cancel), then everything is erased, including uploaded photos. Backups age out within 30 days.

Your rights

You can download everything you entered (Profile, Your data), correct it in the app, and delete your account there. You can also ask us to restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or complain to your data protection authority.

Children

Inkstride is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
